Yosemite Firefall - Roam Earth Co.

Yosemite Firefall

The phenomenon is known as Firefall. It occurs for a few weeks in February when the waning sunset hits Horsetail Fall at just the right angle to create a bright orange glow resembling lava.

It's almost time for Yosemite Firefall season and if vou're new to it, here are some quick things to know before you go for the best experience:

•Timing is everything: It only happens mid-late February.

•No reservation is required this vear to view the phenomenon. Standard park entry fees still apply.

•Visit:  Fees & Passes - Yosemite National Park (U.S. National Park Service) https://share.google/d772unawLh2jGwSic for passes.

•The waterfall you're looking for is Horsetail Fall locatec on El Capitan. not Yosemite Falls.

•It is verv dependent on weather. Sun matters: You need a clear sunset - clouds = no alow

•Water flow matters: Warm enough temps = flowina Horsetail Fall

•Parking and viewing locations. There are severa places vou can park in the valley to get vantage points of the falls. Cathedral beach is the most popular with parking at Camp 4 being the main parking hub. It is a 20 minute walk to the viewing location. The parking lot typically fills up around noon but that varies by the day of the week

•Lastly, Bring layers: It gets cold fast after dark. Also, for photography a tripod helps: Low light + long exposure = sharper qlow

Have a great time, and be sure to save this for reference!
